EPW - Jules Jurgensen, Copenhagen, minute repeater tandem winding split-seconds chronograph with 1/5-second jump, 54mm, massive 18K gold original OF Jules Jurgensen case with initials to rear, lids with Jurgensen lips, five-knuckle hinges, signed gold cuvette, button on band at 9 for chronograph stop/start function, crown depressed for split-seconds function, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial, SW-bow-set, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled repeat train down to hammers, likely 36-42J, wheel satin nickel finish, s#13937. Gross weight of assembled watch 113.4 dwt (176.5 g). A superb example with substantial in-hand presence.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone, good primary chronograph stop/start function which is as-made with no provision for reset, good split-seconds function apart from sluggish to very sluggish reset of split-seconds hand, good 1/5-second jump function, chronograph train mainspring likely broken as it winds endlessly with an occasional light slippage though is holding adequate tension for functions, overhaul recommended for chronograph train mainspring, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, small patch of abrasion to center bridge near its central screw, some typical micro-fine scratches scattered elsewhere; virtually flawless dial with minuscule pinpoint surface nick near 45 minute numeral, few minuscule pinpoint surface nicks within 1-5-second jump register; excellent hands, hour is blue, all other hands are plum colored; case shows very little wear, pinpoint nick to bezel perimeter adjacent hinge, few pinpoint nicks to band, no dents, excellent engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with few scratches.
